The Division of Planning and Zoning is responsible for current planning, long term planning, zoning compliance, and related administrative duties. These functions help to ensure and facilitate high quality and orderly development, the protection of property values, and the protection of the public health and general welfare of the community.
The Development Review Team (DRT) meets weekly on Thursdays to review upcoming and active projects with developers, owners, and owners' design representatives. Members of DRT include City Planner, Chief Building Official, City Engineer, Public Works Director, Utilities Director, Assistant Utilities Director, Fire Administrator, and Development Coordinator. Through the DRT process all aspects of a project can be discussed including key issues and expectations such as site issues, time lines, processing of applications for project approval, phasing, subcontractor responsibilities, design issues, and code requirements.
