Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Division
The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Division supports the City’s operations through the management, analysis, and visualization of geographic data. GIS is a powerful technology that links information to location, helping City staff make informed decisions, improve efficiency, and better serve residents.
What We Do
The GIS Division develops and maintains digital maps and spatial databases that support nearly every department across the City. By combining mapping technology with data analysis, we help track infrastructure, plan for growth, manage assets, and provide transparent public information.
Our core responsibilities include:
Maintaining the City’s official base maps and geographic datasets
Supporting infrastructure mapping for water, sewer, stormwater, streets, and utilities
Providing mapping and data services to City departments
Creating interactive maps and web-based mapping applications
Assisting with emergency response and planning efforts
Supporting long-range planning and development review
Supporting City Services
GIS plays a critical role in daily operations and long-term planning. From identifying underground utility locations to analyzing development trends, GIS ensures accurate, reliable data is available when and where it is needed.
The Division works closely with departments such as:
Public Access to GIS Information
The City is committed to transparency and public access to information. The GIS Division provides online mapping tools that allow residents, businesses, and developers to:
View property and parcel information
Identify zoning and land use designations
Locate infrastructure and City facilities
Access aerial imagery
Explore community data
Interactive mapping applications and downloadable resources are available through the City’s GIS Portal.
