Virtual STEAM Challenge (Youth, Teen, Family)

Full Description

Each month we'll present a different science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) challenge that your family can try at home. Registration is required. Limited to a maximum of 50 participants per session. We'll post about the program on Facebook. Share a photo or video of your project to that post for a chance to win a prize!

February: Frozen Suncatchers
Ice is beautiful and fascinating to both children and adults. It is amazing that something as simple as water can turn into a glassy solid. This is an easy winter activity that involves turning water and natural items into beautiful frozen suncatchers. This project will get the children outside exploring and is the perfect opportunity to talk about freezing and thawing. Register by Friday, February 26 at 8:00 am. Supplies may be picked up at the front desk beginning on Friday, February 26.

March: Marble Maze Mania!
Do your kids love the challenge of a maze? Let’s build marble mazes using household materials. This is a simple and fun activity that works on problem-solving skills and hand-eye coordination. You can even have a contest to see who can get through the maze the fastest! The library will provide straws and marbles; you provide tape/hot glue and the box. Register by Friday, March 26 at 8:00 am. Supplies may be picked up at the front desk beginning on Friday, March 26.

April: Roll the Dice!
Get ready to roll! Many people use dice when playing packaged board games. However, there are some excellent dice games for kids that use only a pair of dice. Dice games teach numbers, counting, and mental addition. Each packet will contain a set of dice and a variety of dice games. The library will provide the supplies. Register by Friday, April 23 at 8:00 am. Supplies may be picked up at the front desk beginning on Friday, April 23.
