The Kearney Public Library presents "Dig into the Cookie Jar for Songs and Stories" with musician and songwriter Thad Beach on Monday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m.
Thad will dig for letters of the alphabet that represent an instrument or the name of a song. The audience helps choose the direction of the program by solving alphabet clues and then joins in to Jam with the Kitchen Band!
Beach specializes in writing songs for children and families and showcasing a variety of fun and unique instruments -- all while teaching the magic of words, rhyme, language, and music. He will be serving up generous portions of humor, and clever antics while wowing the audience with his musical wizardry as he accompanies himself with guitar, harmonica, ukulele, jaw harp and more.
In addition to performing, Thad works with thousands of children in the schools each year as a visiting artist for preschool through high school developing and presenting programs on curriculum-related topics, and conducting songwriting residencies. Through his work with Wolf Trap Early Learning Institute, Kennedy Center and Lied Art.Teach programs, he has helped Early Childhood Educators integrate music, storytelling, movement and creative drama into their teaching methods.
Thad grew up in Ohio, has lived both on the coast and in the mountains of North Carolina and currently makes his home in Salina Kansas, with his wife and teenage son. Thad can be reached through his website at ThadBeachMusic.com and via email at Thad@Thadbeachmusic.com.
