The Kearney Public Library has joined the Library Ideas? network of Public Library websites that offer access to over 7 million songs, including Sony Music Entertainment’s catalogue of legendary artists.
The Freegal? Music Service will allow the Kearney Public Library to increase the size and diversity of its collection by offering access to over 28,000 music labels from 101 different countries. Over 5,000 libraries around the world subscribe to the Freegal Music Service.
Under the terms of the agreement, registered cardholders of the Kearney Public Library can download 3 of Freegal Music’s MP3 files each week and stream 3 hours of music every day at no direct cost via www.kearneylib.org. The Kearney Public Library will underwrite the purchase of the music. The Freegal Music Service also has popular music videos for download.
The Freegal Music Service has free mobile apps for registered cardholders of subscribing libraries. The Freegal Music apps are available in the Apple® App Store and Google Play®.
“We are very excited to offer a service like this that delivers great music, compatibility with lots of devices, and simplicity of use. We think this will be incredibly popular with our patrons and will help the Library in marketing all its services to the community”, said Matthew Williams, Director of the Kearney Public Library.
