The Plum Creek Massacre was a surprise Indian attack on August 8, 1864, west of Ft. Kearny, on a train of freight wagons bound for Denver. Victims of the massacre were buried nearby. Holdrege residents and authors, Patti Simpson and Sandra Slater, will present a program on the events leading up to and following the massacre and how they dowsed for victims’ graves near the massacre site as part of the research for their book, “Plum Creek: The Rest of the Story”. This free program will be held at the Kearney Public Library on Monday, June 8 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
