[ARCHIVED] Library Offers Online Learning 24/7 Through Lynda.com

Kearney Public Library now offers all cardholders access to Lynda.com, a collection of award-winning video tutorials teaching business, technical, and creative skills. These online courses are taught by recognized industry experts and cover topics such as leadership and business skills, computer software programs, website development, 3D and animation, video editing, music theory, design, photography, and more.

“It would cost residents from $19.99 to $29.99 a month to subscribe to this service by themselves”, said Matthew Williams, the Library Director at Kearney Public Library. “Now, through the Library, every patron can access these educational resources on their own time and at their own pace, to further their personal, educational, or professional goals.”

Kearney Public Library cardholders can access any of the Lynda.com tutorials online, from within the library or from home, work, or school. To use the new service, KPL cardholders will need to log in through the Library’s website (www.kearneylib.org), create a Lynda.com account (which requires a name and email address) and then access tutorials and watch videos. Lynda.com keeps track of individual learning paths to keep learners motivated. The service is available via mobile devices through web browsers (not mobile apps) so cardholders can take the classes on the road with them.
