The Kearney Public Library invites you to participate in the first Book Art Showcase! Patrons ages 5 and up can create of art using our favorite thing – books!
Take part by transforming a book into a piece of art! You can use any method you wish: paint, color, draw, take it apart, cut it up, add to it, make a "sculpture," be creative! Just make sure to include a book! You can either select a withdrawn book provided by the library or use your own.
Requirements: Due to space, creations must be no larger than 20 inches by 20 inches. The library will not hang or mount wall pieces — tabletop only. The library will not display pieces that are inappropriate for family viewing.
Entries may be dropped off on July 13 (9am–5m), July 14 (1–5pm), or July 15 (9–11am). Entries should be collected on July 17 by 9pm.
Register your creation online any time before Wednesday, July 10 at noon. To register, visit the library’s website www.kearneylib.org, click on “Summer Central,” and look for Book Art Festival: Make a Creation! This program is free and open to ages 5 and up!
The Book Art Show will take place on Monday, July 15 between noon and 8:45pm or Tuesday, July 16 between 9am and 8:45pm. The Showcase will be held in the upstairs Platte Rooms. Everyone is welcome to come and view the show!
