The Kearney Police Department recently conducted alcohol compliance checks in Kearney on 40 licensed premises. Officers utilized underage cooperating individuals under the age of 21. Of those 40 businesses checked, 88% were found to be in compliance and refused the sale of alcohol to the minor. Five businesses in Kearney sold alcohol to the minors and received a citation to appear in Buffalo County Court.
Citations were issued to an employee of the following businesses for selling alcohol to a minor:
• 56th Street Amoco Plaza (5605 2nd Avenue West),
• Pump & Pantry #40 (1616 2nd Avenue),
• Sunmart 765 (3920 2nd Avenue),
• Pane Bello (5004 2nd Avenue), and
• Pizza Hut (1412 2nd Avenue)
Sale of alcohol to a minor is a Class I Misdemeanor which has a possible maximum sentence of not more than a year imprisonment, or one thousand dollar fine, or both with no minimum.
Reports are being forwarded to the Buffalo County Attorney’s Office and the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission.
These alcohol compliance checks were made possible with funding provided by the Buffalo County Community Health Partners (BCCHP).
