Safety Tips When Entertaining for the Holidays

• When cooking for guests remember to keep an eye on the range.
• If guests are smoking, provide plenty of large, deep ashtrays and check them frequently.
• After the guests leave check on, between, and under upholstery and cushions and inside trashcans for smoking materials that may be smoldering.
• Keep matches and lighters up high, out of sight, and out of reach of children.
• Keep candles away from decorations and other combustible materials, and do not use lit candles to decorate Christmas trees.
• Turn off all the Christmas lights and ensure that all candles are extinguished before leaving the house or going to bed.
• Check smoke detectors.
