Parents & Teens

E-bikes and scooters can reach speeds up to 28 mph — fast enough to cause serious injury.

Before allowing your child to ride, make sure they understand the rules and can safely control the device.

Parent Tips:

  • Check that the bike or scooter fits your child and the brakes work.
  • Review where they’re allowed to ride.
  • Make helmets a habit.
  • Encourage bright or reflective clothing for visibility.
  • Talk about staying alert — no headphones or phones while riding.
  • Remind them that roads are shared spaces, not playgrounds.

Parents may be held responsible for property damage caused by minors riding carelessly or unlawfully.
