If the following guidelines don't answer your questions, please do not hesitate to call the Sanitation Division at (308) 233-3206.

Yard Waste

Yard waste such as grass clippings, leaves, garden material, and tree trimmings are banned from being placed into your garbage container. All containers that are observed with yard waste will not be emptied until the yard waste is removed.

Yard waste disposal options:
  1. Don’t bag your grass clippings; mulch them.
  2. Free disposal of yard waste at the landfill.
  3. Yard waste can be placed in a free yard waste collection container and collected by the Sanitation Division at a fee of $14.50 per month.

Bag Your Trash

Please bag your trash to help prevent blowing litter. City Code 5-215 requires residents and businesses to protect the contents of trash containers from being blown and scattered by the wind.

Have Container in Place by 7:00 a.m.

All trash must be placed inside your container in order to be collected. Please have your container at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day. We may not always collect your container at the same time each week due to unforeseen reasons such as weather conditions or mechanical problems.

Curbside Placement

Place your container at the curb with the handle toward the house. Containers that are placed out backwards may have the lid damaged when the container is being emptied.

Containers must be at least four feet away from obstacles such as parked cars, light poles, and mail boxes. We have very careful drivers but we do not want to accidentally damage property while emptying a container.

Placement of Multiple Trash Containers

Please keep the containers at least 18 inches apart. This will allow the trucks grip arm to grab the container without knocking the container over.

Remove Container from Curb After Collection

Your garbage container must be rolled away from the curb after each collection day. Containers left out violate Section 5-213, B2 of the City Code.
