Contact your neighbors and decide on a convenient location to get together for an organizational meeting. The best places are usually either at a home in the neighborhood or in a meeting hall.
Contact the Kearney Police Department and ask to speak to a Lieutenant. Our number is (308) 237-2104. They will help you to schedule a Police Officer to come to your organizational meeting to show you ways to be a successful Neighborhood Watch. Please allow two weeks to schedule a meeting.
Go back to your neighbors and confirm the date, time and location of the meeting. Be sure you explain how important it is for someone in the residence to attend. The organizational meeting usually lasts about one hour. Be sure to let them know that a Kearney Police Officer will be in attendance to show them ways to protect their property from crime in the neighborhood. The Officer will also talk about ways to better secure your home with locks, lights and other crime prevention methods.
